Our baby is growing up!

This weekend was a big weekend for Louis. We got up on Saturday morning and decided to go to the New York Botanical Gardens. Grounds admission is free from 10-11 on Saturday mornings, and why not? We had been meaning to go since we first moved to New York years ago. So we strapped Louis into the baby carrier and took the Metro North train to the Bronx. Baby's first train ride! He did great, i.e. he slept for most of the ride. And then we walked around the different gardens and strolled through one of the scant remaining old-growth forest in New York, just stopping every now and then to feed him and change his diaper. Then afterwards we walked over to Arthur Avenue (locally famous Italian neighborhood) and ate delicious Italian deli sandwiches. All with a mostly peaceful almost 2-month old.

I'm starting to see how people can have a life with a baby.

Sunday was also a big day. We went out to Long Island to visit with Chris' relaives out there. It was a long trip, but it was worth it to see everyone. It was a beautiful day, the food was delicious, and there were plenty of arms to hold Louis so I got a little bit of a break. He was so alert and taking it all in. Then we came home, and he slept in his crib from about 10:40 until 4:30. Amazing!

And today he's been sleeping all day too. I guess he needs the rest from all the excitement.
